Kenzo Collection; A Fabric Frenzy

Kenzo CollectionEven though I’m not one to follow any of the shows during fashion weeks with religious fervor, I have to say that I really enjoyed looking at the Kenzo collection.  While always whimsical, the Summer 2011 collection really caught my eye.  Now, I am not saying that I find the clothes to be wearable or even remotely close to something I would don myself, but it’s the playful use of fabrics that intrigues me.  I mean, the collection covered the entire gamut when it comes to textiles; bright and neutrals, sheer and textured, embroidery, mixed and layered prints, florals and geometric designs, ethnic references, layers upon layers of cloth.  There was very little missing.  So for someone who really enjoys the textile arts, this was quite a treat.

Have you seen it?  It’s crazy.  It’s like going to a textile museum and digging through its archives; an absolute frenzy of fabric. I’m serious. Check it out!  I dare you to tell me the sense of whimsy isn’t at least a little bit charming.
